Why this combination works
Coconut is milky and sunny, and sandalwood is creamy and woody. They share a smooth, lactonic feel, so the pairing reads as warm skin on a sunny day, with the wood keeping coconut from smelling like sunscreen.
How to layer it
- Start on clean, moisturised skin. Unscented lotion helps both scents last.
- Apply the creamy coconut first, since it is the stronger of the two. Use one spray of coconut to two of the sandalwood as a starting point.
- Wait about a minute, then add the sandalwood over it or on a different pulse point so it is not buried.
- Give the blend 20 to 30 minutes to settle before judging it. Notes shift as they warm on skin.
The blend as a scent blueprint
This is how the combination maps across a fragrance's top, heart and base. Use it to look for individual scents, or to describe the result you want.
- Topbergamot
- Heartcoconut, tiare flower
- Basesandalwood, vanilla
What to avoid
Avoid very sugary coconut. Look for a milky, lightly sweet coconut so the wood can balance it.
