Who we are
Davana ("we", "us") runs houseofdavana.com, a fragrance discovery service where people can turn memories and moods into scent ideas, keep a private scent journal, and talk with other fragrance lovers.
If you have a question about this policy or your data, email hello@houseofdavana.com.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, a password (stored only in hashed form by our sign-in provider), an optional display name, and sign-in times. If you use Google sign-in, we receive your email and name from Google.
- Scent profile and journal: the notes you like or avoid, your moods, and the memories you write. These are saved to your account only if you choose to save them.
- Community content: posts and replies you publish, "Helpful" reactions, and reports you submit. Posts and replies are shown with your display name to other signed-in members.
- Messages you send us: feedback and contact form messages, including the name and email you give us.
- Prompts to the Architect: the text you type when you ask the Architect to build a fragrance idea.
- Usage data: aggregate page-view statistics from our hosting provider, and technical data such as your browser type and IP address in server logs.
Using the free blueprint tool without an account
When you build a blueprint without an account, the text you enter is sent to our server to find matching scent directions. We do not store it. The archetype card is created in your browser and is only shared if you choose to share it.
If you choose "Save it with a free account", we keep your text in your browser so it can be offered back to you after you sign in. You decide whether to save it to your journal.
How we use your data
- To provide the service: sign you in, save your profile and journal, show curated scent directions and run the Architect.
- To run the community: display your posts, handle reports and keep the space safe.
- To reply to you and to improve Davana based on feedback you send.
- For research, only if you allow it: if you agree, we may use your scent preferences, moods, journal entries, match feedback and, where you allow it separately, your posts and replies, to understand how to improve scent recommendations.
Research consent
Research use is optional and separate from using Davana. It is off by default. In your Scent Profile, a checkbox lets you allow or withdraw this use. You can untick it and save at any time. Each community post and reply has its own research setting that you can change later.
If you withdraw, we stop using that data for research, and match feedback you saved is removed. Withdrawing does not affect your access to Davana.
Who sees your data
- Your private scent profile and journal are protected by access controls so other members cannot read them.
- Community posts and replies are visible to signed-in members, with your display name.
- The Davana team can see feedback and contact messages you send. People with administrative access to our database can technically access stored data, and we limit that access to what is needed to run the service.
Service providers
We use trusted providers to run Davana. They process data on our behalf.
- Supabase: sign-in and our database.
- Vercel: hosting and privacy-focused web analytics.
- Google Analytics: measures how visitors use the site. It sets cookies and receives your IP address and usage data, such as the pages you view.
- Cloudflare Turnstile: security checks on authentication and contact submissions.
- Anthropic: when you use the Architect, your prompt and the generated formula are sent to Anthropic's Claude service to produce the result. Please do not include sensitive personal information in your prompts. Anthropic's handling of that data is described in its own privacy policy.
- An email delivery provider, which sends confirmation and password reset emails.
Cookies and local storage
We store your sign-in session and a few preferences, such as whether you dismissed the research prompt, in your browser's local storage so the site works. We do not use advertising cookies. Google Analytics sets its own cookies to measure visits and how the site is used.
How long we keep data
We keep your account data while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your profile, journal, posts and replies, subject to anything we must keep by law. Contact messages are kept for as long as needed to respond and for our records, and we delete them on request.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to access, correct, export or delete your data, or to withdraw consent, by emailing hello@houseofdavana.com from the address on your account or by using the contact form. You can edit or delete your own posts, replies, feedback and journal entries in the app. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to or restrict certain processing and to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Davana is not intended for anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers and security
Our providers may process data in countries other than your own. We use access controls and encryption in transit to protect your data, but no online service is completely secure.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Davana changes. We will update the date at the top of this page, and tell members about significant changes. Last updated: October 23, 2026.
